Age and Acquisition

Age is length of time that a person has lived.

acquisition is the learning or developing of skill, habit and quality. 

The methods : 

H. H. Stern recommend a second language teaching method or procedure on the basis of first   

 language acquisition:

1. Repetition.

2. Imitation.

3. Natural order. (sounds >words  > sentences)

4. Speech development. (listen  > speaking. Understanding always precedes speaking.)

5. Natural. Order. (listening  >  speaking  >  reading  >  writing)

6. There shouldn’t be any translation.

7. It is unnecessary to use grammatical conceptualization in teaching.

Language 

Language is the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the 

use of words in a structured and conventional way or A system for communicating. 

Functions of language

A lot of what we say is for a specific purpose. Whether we are apologizing, expressing a wish or asking permission, we use language in order to fulfill that purpose.

Learning and Teaching

learning and teaching should not be confused with presentations or lectures by the students, because they have to do much more. They have to choose their own methods and didactic approaches in teaching classmeets that subject.

   

The methods :

•Mass instruction 

 (Conventional lectures and taught lessons)

•Film and video presentations;

•Educational broadcasts; mass practical work

•Individualized learning 

(Directed study of texts, study of open-learning materials; mediated self-instruction; PBLs.)

•Group learning 

(Class discussions; PBLs, seminars; group tutorials; games and simulations; group projects; etc.
