Process, Style, and Strategy
Proces is the most general of the three concepts, and was essentially the focus of the previous chapter. All humans beings engage in certain universal processes. We all posses in variying porpotions abilities in a multiplicity of intellegencess. Process is characteristic of every human being.
Style is a term that refers to consistent and rather enduring lendencies or preferences within and individual. Styles are those general characteristics of intellectual functioning ( and personality type as well) pertain to you individual, an differentiate you from someone else.
Strategies are specific methods of approaching a problem on task, modes of operationfor achieving a particular end planed disigns for controlling and manipulating certain information. Strategies vary within an individual.

Learning Style
Learning styles might be thought of as “cognitive, affective, phisiological traits that are relatively stable indicators of how learners perceive, interact with, and respond to the learning environment” (keefe,1979,p.4). or more simply Skehan(1991,p.288) defined learning style as “a general predisposition, voluntary or not, toward processing information in a paticular way.” Learning style mediate between emotion and cognition , as you will soon discover.
Ehrman and Leaver (2003) research the relevance of 9 such style:
  • Field independence-dependence
  • Random (non-linear) vs sequence (linear)
  • Global vs particular
  • Inductive vs deductive
  • Synthetic vs analytic
  • Analogue vs digital
  • Concrete vs abstract
  • Leveling vs sharpening
  • Impulsive vs reflective
Field Independence
A filed independence (FI) style enables you to distinguish part from a whole, to concentrate on something or to analyze separate variables without the contamination of neighboring variables. The literature on field independence-dependence (FID) has shown that FI increases as a child matures to adulthood, that a person tends to be dominant in one mode or the other, and that FID is relatively stable trait in adulthood.
